Privacy
If you answer a survey, Blind Survey does not know who you are. If you run surveys, it knows your email address and nothing else.
Cookies
Cookies are used for one thing: signing you in and keeping you signed in.
If you do not have an account, or you are not signed in, Blind Survey uses no cookies at all.
If you answer a survey
These are never saved:
- Your name or your email address.
- Your IP address.
- Anything about your phone, computer, or browser.
- The time of day you answered, or the order answers came in.
Answering a survey sets no cookies. There are no ads, no analytics, and no tracking scripts.
What is saved: your answers, the survey they belong to, and the date. The person running the survey is not shown the date.
Three more things protect you:
- Surveys are not allowed to ask who you are. The site blocks questions that ask for a name, contact details, an ID number, or an exact date.
- If you type an email address or a phone number into an answer, it is removed before the answer is saved.
- The person running the survey sees nothing but a count until 5 people have answered. After that, results update 5 answers at a time, so a new answer never shows up alone.
One consequence is worth knowing. Your response cannot be deleted on request, because nothing shows which one is yours.
If you run surveys
Your account is:
- Your email address.
- Your password, stored scrambled so that nobody can read it.
- The date you signed up, and how many surveys you have left.
- The surveys you build.
Blind Survey does not save your name, when you sign in, or where you sign in from. Wrong passwords are counted for 15 minutes, against a scrambled copy of the email address, to slow down guessing. Then the count is thrown away.
Signing in sets two cookies. One keeps you signed in. The other only says that someone is signed in, so the menu can show the right links. Both are removed when you sign out, and both end when you close your browser. After two hours of doing nothing, you are signed out.
Being signed in changes nothing about answering a survey. Nothing connects your account to an answer.
Your email address is used to confirm it is yours and to reset your password. That is all. No newsletter. No marketing. It is never sold or shared.
You can delete your account from its settings page. That removes your account, your surveys, and every response to them.
Who else is involved
Two companies.
DreamHost hosts this site and sends its email. Like every web host, it keeps ordinary visitor logs, which include IP addresses. Those cannot be turned off. Nothing from them is saved with a survey answer, and they are never used to work out who anyone is.
MailChannels carries that email from DreamHost to your inbox. It only handles messages sent to people with an account, such as the link to confirm an email address or reset a password. It never sees a survey answer, and people who only answer surveys are never emailed.
If another company ever gets involved, this page will say so first.
Reporting a survey
Every survey has a link to report it. A report saves the survey, the reason you chose, and the date. Nothing about you.
